Use of cultural checklists

Checklist for cultural assessment

It is obvious that cultural differences and cultural awareness are two important aspects of working with CALD communities.  Click on a  sample checklist (external) for community service and disability service workers to use when working with culturally diverse clients.

Communication checklist

Another main cause of cross-cultural misunderstandings and conflict is related to problems in communication.  We have also adapted the Queensland Health Communication Checklist (external), which highlights the potential problems in communication that may exist.

For further information regarding religious practice, diet and food preference or traditional medication, please visit http://www.health.qld.gov.au/multicultural/health_workers/checklist.asp (external).
