Employees' WHS rights

As an employee you have rights that will help ensure your health and safety in the performance of your duties. You have the right to:

  • elect a workplace health and safety representative
  • consult with that person and have them represent your interests to your employer
  • be consulted on workplace health and safety issues.

You should be provided with opportunities to participate and encouraged to take part in discussions on identifying hazards and managing the risks in your workplace. In this way you can take an active role in developing a culture of safety in your workplace and help improve the standard of health and safety for all.
